Homes, GHG and AI, Oh My!

Availability and cost of homes, real estate in general, are too rare and expensive. The use of real estate to launder criminal money transactions, and private equity buying, and taking off the market (supply side manipulation), too much property is happening... Forensic accountants need to investigate and criminal prosecutions need to follow, as needed.

Oil and gas companies, American Petroleum Institute (API), and their ilk, have known for more than 50 years (from research done by their own, and other, scientists) about worsening global climate change and instead of transitioning to renewable energy they lied, covered up information, about GHG emissions’ causes and effects.

AI can be tested and proved in retrofitted, existing, data centers, but inordinately wealthy individuals and companies are demanding new, ginormous, data centers without demonstrated need. The excessive water and electricity requirements can not be justified without smaller AI demonstrations.

Time for electing Democrats is overdue, because proper investigations won’t be done without government legislative majorities, executive and SCOTUS  changes.

Register and vote, because without as close to everybody voting we perpetuate our own misery.

The Dangerous Rush to AI...

AI is next generation computer automation being (over)sold as nearly magical, and it is (unsurprisingly) no such thing. AI can misunderstand and misinform as well as any pathological liar; requires extraordinary amounts of, human, peer review.

Tech companies are trying to gain access to enormous amounts of water and electric power to build AI supporting, ginormous, data centers without addressing concerns about availability, consequences or cost.

Tech swindlers are also overlooking the inability of LLM (Large Language Models), or any other AI variation, to tell truth from fiction, and therefore AI can create fictitious results in it's automation generated responses.

Automation, even when sold as AI, can be no better, or worse, than the humans who originated the software.

Thoughtful humans must apply the brakes to this AI rush, so that we need not find out, the hard way, that there are costs and consequences that must be considered, seriously considered, before proceeding with this push to put, “AI,” too close to everywhere, way too fast.

Business Insider Publication Exposes Data Center Secrets...

Business Insider published a report identifying data centers, existing and approved construction, across the entire USA. The folks who own existing data centers, and those who want more built, are very secretive.

Data centers use enormous amounts of electricity and similarly enormous quantities of fresh water (too oft in places, like the desert southwestern USA, that do not have the water to spare). There is a method for a closed loop that reuses the same water repeatedly, but that costs the data center operators a great deal of money to build and operate; money that cuts into their profit margins.

Another problem is that the supply of renewably produced electricity is completely insufficient for the electrification of transportation, homes, offices and manufacturing infrastructure, so they are quietly promoting increased use of gas, diesel, oil, coal (increased GHG emissions; greater climate change consequences) and nuclear power generation.  The problem with nuclear power is the large production of spent fuel rods, that will be dangerously radioactive for hundreds (Plutonium 238 half-life of 87 years) to billions (that’s right, the half life of Uranium 235 (700 million years) and Uranium 238 (4 billion years). There is no known way to store those spent fuel rods safely; especially for the needed amount of time.. The Plutonium is a low concentration of nuclear bomb material, both of the Uranium atomic weights are dirty bomb material.

AI has been proven to be as capable of data manipulation (via fudged equations, and gaming of the numbers that are plugged in to said equations) as any human...  Creating documentation that is false, lying like a human. AI, when properly peer reviewed and corrected, is capable of being run on smaller, existing computing environments; doesn’t need the proposed, new infrastructure.

Pause, till there is a proven need, AI and data center development.

The Start Project 2026-2028

The reason I've lived in Texas for 45 years is because where I grew up, Massachusetts, it costs way more to live indoors...

States with Democratic governors oft also have Democratic state AGs, and they should come together to find out why it is so much more expensive to live indoors in some places; housing/population density is not sufficient to explain the enormous differences. (It will get much worse when sea levels start to rise…)

Once they've figured out the cause; fix it!

Just like adopting Single Payer health care can lower medical costs massively, while increasing the quality of results; ALL the other OECD countries demonstrate that!

There's more to it:

Affordability has been demonstrated to be something only Democrats will take seriously; address/fix.
