Genetic Engineering Questioned

Humans are very new to the field of genetic research, and therefore should not be assumed to be accurate when they present results in genetic research and the resulting Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) from the new fields of Genetic/Biological Engineering.

The paper, excerpted below, demonstrates the unreliable results of a major tool, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), broadly used in genetic research.

Author: Eran Elhaik, PhD. Population, medical, and evolutionary genomics. Associate Professor at the Department of Biology, Lund University, Sweden

Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a multivariate analysis that reduces the complexity of datasets while preserving data covariance. The outcome can be visualized on colorful scatterplots, ideally with only a minimal loss of information. PCA applications, implemented in well cited packages like EIGENSOFT and PLINK, are extensively used as the foremost analyses in population genetics and related fields (e.g., animal and plant or medical genetics). PCA outcomes are used to shape study design, identify, and characterize individuals and populations, and draw historical and ethnobiological conclusions on origins, evolution, dispersion, and relatedness. The replicability crisis in science has prompted us to evaluate whether PCA results are reliable, robust, and replicable.

...We demonstrate that PCA results can be artifacts of the data and can be easily manipulated to generate desired outcomes. PCA adjustment also yielded unfavorable outcomes in association studies. PCA results may not be reliable, robust, or replicable as the field assumes. Our findings raise concerns about the validity of results reported in the population genetics literature and related fields that place a disproportionate reliance upon PCA outcomes and the insights derived from them. We conclude that PCA may have a biasing role in genetic investigations and that 32,000 - 216,000 genetic studies should be reevaluated...

Introducing GMOs into the wild/world is akin to people creating and releasing invasive species into the environment...

What could possibly go wrong?

Democrats Need To Ditch the Kid Gloves

Democrats,

It is time to ditch the kid gloves, forever.

We, and our democratic republic, are under distinct and severe threat, because we play fair and nicely even though it has been demonstrated, time and again, that Re/Qpublicans will not do same.

There is no more, never has been, a good justification for the Senate's filibuster;

There is only one team seeking bi-partisan support, for anything, in the US and state legislatures... Time for us, Democrats, to stop also;

Seek to do what would increase our US House majority;

Establish a functional, simple majority in the US Senate;

Increase the number of Democrats holding elected offices in all the US states and territories;

etc, etc, etc...

Fixing Our Democratic Republic After Republican/SCOTUS Efforts to Break It.

Democrats,

VA Hospitals, rural abandoned hospitals, federal buildings, military bases, etc...  Can be used to create federal, women's clinics.

Federal, military, medical personnel, and federal contractors (from said rural hospitals and closed clinics)...  Can staff these clinics.

Protected prescriptions (from the aforementioned, women's clinics) to customers/patients via the USPS.

Use federal facilities and personnel to fill needs, the SCOTUS recently created, and fill the gaps till voters can give Democrats the legislative majorities needed to correct said issues more permanently.

Always remember, as in the case of women's health care, voting and civil rights, etc..., What was once secured can be taken away by a persistent pestilence currently known as Republicans.

There can be no worries about bi-partisanship till there is a second party not determined to ruin our democratic republic in the name of their own power.

Be Part of the Solution in the USA

Fascism has arrived in the USA.

Get angry, and then be the one of the folks who channel their energy, and, more important, their vote to fixing the problems that not voting allowed to happen.

It's people not voting that failed their country...  A Democratic Republic requires voter participation.

The people who have always showed up, and voted (Hillary called them, "deplorables"), were given the ability to bring us here by those of us who bought into the lie that our vote didn't  matter.

Every vote cast matters!

Founding Document Basics...

This is for those least likely to read it...

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...” is as close to health care as anything included in the Declaration of Independence, and yet SCOTUS declared that women can't have it.

FYI... Medicines, shipped by US mail, are protected against any and all interference by federal law.

2nd Amendment enthusiasts, who have no idea what is actually written in said amendment, would skip over the first four words (“A well regulated militia”) to get to where their imaginations think the word, “gun,” is mentioned...

Keep and bear arms,” in the 18th century (when the document was written, and not amended at all since then) means to possess the weapons one would bring when called to service in the government's (British aristocracy or American democratic republic) militia. The 18th century weapons included: pikes (variation on a spear), bow and arrow, sword and fire arms (black powder, muzzle loading, single shot, musket and/or pistol), and (for those who could afford it) a black powder, muzzle loading, single shot, rifle.

Fire arms, not guns; guns didn't exist when the document was written, and it hasn't been amended since then.

There's Only One Party in Our Democratic Republic...

Democrats need to step up the messaging. Forget bi-partisan and run on the GOP/Re/Qpublican's, decades long, war on nearly everything Democrat.

Bring every bill that passes in the House to the Senate for a vote; explain what said bill would've done if it had been allowed to pass...

Explain the Jim Crow, filibuster and who always stops it's repeal; remind voters again and again and again, ad infinitum...

The Re/Qpublicans have forced the need for continuing resolutions, in lieu of bi-partisan budget legislation, for decades...

Gingrich, as House majority leader, stopped as much as he could of the Clinton administration's legislative agenda. A serious version of the ACA, Bill Kristol warned that if it was in place for a couple of years it would be so widely appreciated that it would impossible to undo, was stopped before it could ever become law....

Re/Qpublicans have tried to outsource, or eliminate, starting almost immediately after each program came to be: Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

The Re/Qpublican party is the party of, "shrink government till it can be drowned in a bath tub," and did everything possible to make it's government, “can't do,” philosophy self fulfilling...

Moscow Mitch, as Senate majority leader, declared his most important job was to make Obama a one term President...

The Re/Qpublican party sent a delegation to Moscow July 4th 2018...

The Qpublican party wouldn't impeach the orange menace, twice, even after he provoked insurrection...

Legislation, during the Biden administration, has repeatedly passed in the House only to die in the Senate...

Election reform, repair and update of the Voting Rights Act, has been blocked by Re/Qpublicans at every opportunity, because they know they can't win a fair election...

The Senate has become the most recent, Re/Qpublican place where good legislation, that has already passed in the House, goes to die!

If we don't advertise, in reasonably affordable places (e.g., multiple platforms on the Internet), we will be the reason we, Democrats, do poorly in all upcoming elections.

Remember that anyone that had anything to do with the Insurrection, including those who confessed to said participation via acceptance of a pardon, need be on the receiving end of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.

Well, How Did We Get Here?

The Insurrection of January 6, 2021 once again brings violence to the fore in the continuing, re-prosecution of the (un)Civil War...

It's been hard for some to come to grips with, “Well, how did we get here?”

White supremacists have been integral to these United States... First, the history of the Americas, the western hemisphere, has been documented as starting in 1492; in spite of massive amounts of accumulated evidence that people have resided on the entire landmass for tens of thousands of years...

Labor was provided by slaves; brought to the Americas involuntarily...

That the USA's founding fathers were enlightened, in an 18th century context, while still prone to being white supremacists; white men owning property were the only original voters, those held as slaves were counted as three fifths of a person in the original census and indigenous people did not count at all...

That for the last 50 plus years Democrats have felt a need to be nonpartisan, reaching across the aisle in a centrist (neo-liberal) way, while picking up the pieces of the economic and social messes Republicans created. (see also, the book: Bulls Bears and the Ballot Box by Bob Deitrick and Lew Goldfarb)...

Some things to keep in mind while promoting progressive (Keynesian) Democrats up and down all ballots in 2022, and beyond...

FDR (D): The New Deal and Keynesian economics, etc...

JFK (D): 1962 Speech at Rice University, FFRDCs, etc...

LBJ (D): Great Society, Medicaid, Civil and Voting Rights Acts, etc...

SCOTUS: 1973 Roe v. Wade...

Obama (D): Affordable Care Act, etc...

Biden (D): American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, etc...

The media has been promoting a, “both sides do it,” in creating the chaos that has haunted our United States of America for, at least, the last century.

That's patently incorrect.

Conservatives, in the guise of Republicans since the Reagan administration, created problems while trying to return to the problematic, white supremacist, roots of these United States.

Democrats have picked up the messes while refusing to point out the errors, and without ever holding those, who were intentionally making those errors, in a recurring nightmarish series of events, responsible.

Elections and investigations can give us the power to correct the errors of the recent past and hold those criminally responsible to task.

Remember, this is a recurring problem, because we, who should know better, get comfortably self-satisfied and forget that those, who would do whatever it takes to serve only themselves, never go away.

Keep your eyes open, and: Vote! Vote! Vote!
