Properly Applied Socialism

Unregulated capitalism is feudalism.

Remember the, "Panics," of the 19th century, the Great Depression of the 20th century and the Great Recession of the 21st century?  They were all caused by over leveraged, private debt, and the fix wasn't implemented till anti-trust laws, Glass-Steagall, Keynesian government spending, government agencies creating jobs, etc... applied appropriate, Socialist, corrections.

That was socialism finally curing what was causing recurring crashes of the US economy while creating the greatest, most equitable, economic expansion in the history of the USA (and the rest of the world, for that matter). See: statistics from the US economy from 1946 - 1976. 

I'm betting that you know where to find said stats.

The megalomaniacal oligarchs, aristocrat wannabes, spent decades trying to undo that progress. The wannabes finally stopped progress when they purchased the Republican party to create the Republican criminal syndicate (RCS). 

The Reagan administration (RCS in the White House) introduced the  regressive nonsense that constituted, 'Supply Side,' economics. The Neo-liberals (a combination of gullible Democrats, Libertarians and Independents) allowed what George HW Bush appropriately, initially, labeled as, "voodoo," ('doo-doo,' to me) economics to destroy the aforementioned economic progress.  

The merde l'orange (criminal in chief) administration has had the White House purchased for them, while the RCS tore down the legislature, US Congress, and SCOTUS. All this in service to the megalomaniacs who did not want the, previously mentioned, enormous and equitable economy to be restored, to say naught of improved upon.

The current, incumbent Democrat office holders are trying to pretend all this isn't true, because restoration would put some of them on the sideline; out of power.

Time to move forward again!  Bernie, AOC, Mamdani, Waters, etc... will lead the way.

Some of What Democrats Should Be Prepared To Do!

Democrats, we can not claim to represent working folks of the USA when the federal minimum wage, of $7.25 per hour, approaches 20 years in place. A living wage in the USA is at least $25 per hour.

Medicare For All/Single Payer would catch the USA up to what all the other OECD  (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, an intergovernmental organisation with 38 members) countries already have: they get better results, for nearly everybody, for far less cost.

Similarly, the definition of what had been pensions changed from ‘defined benefits’ to ‘defined contribution’ programs like the 401k. We need to bring back defined benefit pensions for all working people.

The Social Security trust fund is facing bankruptcy, because the tax that pays for it only applies to around the first $160,000 of an employee’s annual income, even as folks who’ve made over $400,000 per year, who have not saved sufficiently well enough for retirement, have a need for their Social Security benefits.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is a United States federal statute enacted by the 117th United States Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden on November 15, 2021. 

If the Democrats regain control of government, from local to national, there’s a need to be ready to resume boosting the  US economy.

Solar panels on flat roofs, south facing roofs, wind turbines and agrivoltaics attached to batteries and microgrids;

Condensation of atmospheric humidity to water, collected for distribution via pipelines, and/or deposited directly into crushed stone filled trenches, that direct water towards aquifers, reducing water evaporating right back into humidity;

Solar powered desalinization facilities, mounted on barges that can go as far inland as saltwater flows. Collect, distribute and/or deposit water into the aforementioned trenches.

There are multiple precautions that should be considered, because if climate change causes sea levels to rise 20 feet (especially if this happens in this century) multiple millions of Americans, and around a billion people worldwide, will be flooded out of their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods. 

There is not sufficient room for said displaced folks to just move to higher ground.

We must be ready to build, install and operate these facilities in these United States of America if we retake control of our government. This must happen even as we begin the re-installation of democracy in the USA.

No Need for Those Data Centers

 The ginormous, problematic, data centers in question are not needed.

There are multiple ways to take advantage of AI on your local: laptop/PC/MAC; don’t need the use of cloud computing in a ginormous, data center.

These are just some of the options available to the users of extremely powerful CPU/GPU equipped computing environs.

A big problem with Large Language Models (LLM) is that they copy/utilize information that is stored on central, cloud, computing environments; your data in those in the ginormous data centers. That information is not theirs to use even if they were to properly cite credit for information that is, “borrowed.” 

Another problem, especially with LLMs, is that they can't tell fact from fiction, so that answers they provide (work that they do) can be partially, to 100%, wrong.

The key point here is that the data centers causing problems, because they use/abuse enormous quantities of water and electricity (and other problems they create) aren’t needed.
